Who Was Rafael Reyes, The Painter?
When we talk about the great creative minds of a time long past, there’s one individual whose name often comes up, a person who truly stood out during what people call the Italian High Renaissance. This artist, whose real name was Raffaello Santi, but whom many know as Raphael, was born in a lovely place called Urbino, which was then a duchy in Italy. He came into the world on April 6, 1483. It’s quite something to consider how much he achieved in a relatively short span of time, you know.
His early days were spent in Urbino, where his father, Giovanni Santi, was himself a painter, working for the court there. So, in a way, art was very much a part of his family life from the very beginning. This upbringing certainly gave him a head start, offering him a chance to see and learn about painting from a young age. He must have picked up so much just by being around his father’s work, which is pretty cool, if you ask me.
Sadly,
